In 2021, Southwest Florida residents had 28 percent of their income from interest, dividends, or net rental income. Collier county had nearly a third of all residents receiving income from interest, dividends, or net rental income. The income created in this category arises from investments. One of the most common types of investments is stocks.

FGCU Golfer and PGA Golf Management major Austin Cherichella is teaching the next generation of golfers this summer

Austin Cherichella is a rising senior and the best player on the FGCU men’s golf team. He is a Florida native with aspirations to go professional after graduation. However, during the summer months Ausitin switches hats and becomes a golf instructor. This summer he is working with the Junior Golf Performance Academy, offering golf instruction and development to kids of all ages.

Industry Diversification Project: Second Quarter 2023 Report

The RERI has published the Industry Diversification Report for the second quarter of 2023. The goal of the IDI is to measure industry diversification and, by extension, that of the workforce, in each of Florida’s 24 workforce regions, the state of Florida, and the remaining 49 states. The index measure is computed quarterly, soon after the release of workforce data from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages. It spans from 0 to 10, with 0 signifying no diversification (or an economy characterized by a single industry), and 10 signifying perfect diversification (no concentration).

Issue Brief: EJP Skills Gap Analysis

The analysis presented in this study comes from DatabaseUSA, a leading provider for establishment-level records. The dataset consists of 34,014 records for establishments in Lee County, Florida, and includes information on their reported industry, establishment size (number of employees), sales revenue, and latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates. We restrict our analysis to establishments with no more than 20 employees, consistent with the definition used by the Small Business Enterprise Program. Furthermore, we define a qualified establishment as one that meets the specified criteria in each table or figure.
