On February 6th, 2019, the FGCU community was graced by the presentation of Cheryl Bachelder, the author of Dare to Serve: How to Drive Superior Results by Serving Others, which chronicles her 10-year tenure as CEO of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
Nearly 200 students and members of the community attended and were treated to dinner and a copy of the book.
Dr. Eric Dent, Uncommon Friends Endowed Chair of Ethics, introduced Bachelder, who now serves as interim CEO of Pier 1 Imports.
Bachelder reported on the tremendous financial performance of Popeyes once they systematically employed the Servant Leadership model. The stock price rose from $11 to $79 over this period, a rarely achieved feat in the restaurant industry. She challenged everyone present about what each person could do to meet the needs of others in society and deliver outstanding results doing so.
