The college does a great job of preparing students for graduate studies and the working world.

Meet ChadAs an aspiring entrepreneur, Chad Moran has eagerly absorbed all the knowledge and hands-on experience he’s gained by working alongside professionals as an intern, most recently with Wells Fargo. He previously completed internships at Tamiami Angel Fund, LTC Global and Midland IRA, all of which enhanced his classroom learning.

“Internships are a great way for students to gain the required skills needed in this competitive workforce,” Chad says. “Knowing the facts in the various textbooks is not enough to stand out to different employees.”

Internships “test your strengths and weaknesses and give you a bigger opportunity to grow,” he says. They have given him valuable experiences and skills that he would not have gotten in the classroom.

“These skills have been polished by numerous hours spent learning from companies hands-on. Now I am more knowledgeable about the business landscape and better able to network with older professionals and be influential.”

Chad has taken advantage of numerous opportunities at FGCU to influence peers and hone leadership skills that will help him in his career. He has served as a University Ambassador with the Alumni Association, as a mentor in the Honors College and an assistant in New Student Programs. In addition, he has served as an Eagle View Orientation leader and Parent Program assistant. After he graduates in fall 2018, he wants to become an entrepreneur and eventually create a philanthropic organization.

Chad has high praise for FGCU’s business internship program, saying “FGCU has implemented various initiatives to give students the best opportunity to gain valuable experience from companies. There are key events every semester like the Employer Express, that bring companies from the local area to meet students interested in gaining an internship.”

Internship coordinators such as Amy Scott in the Lutgert College of Business work diligently alongside students to help them find internship opportunities that fit their goals, he says.

“The college does a great job of preparing students for graduate studies and the working world. Its curriculum is designed to challenge and develop future business professionals to make an impact on the world.” Faculty members are dedicated and go beyond the classroom to increase students’ success, he says.
