Associate of the Hunter Institute Program
The "Associate" of the Hunter Institute program has been designed to further the education of Early Childhood majors and to help designate these students as having had additional experiences outside of their regular coursework. ALL College of Education majors, however, are welcome and encouraged to participate in the program as those students that fulfill the requirements of the program will be recognized upon graduation as having had extra training regarding diversity, literacy and best practices in early childhood. Experiences range from serving as a literacy assistant in a diverse early childhood setting (for which service-learning hours can be earned) to attending the Annual Children and Youth Conference held on the FGCU campus each fall. Workshops provided throughout the year on topics pertaining to pre-school technology use to "play" as an effective learning method are also offered as part of the program.
