Dr. Biehl began serving as the Chair of the Department of Economics & Finance in 2021 and is an Associate Professor of Economics. She came to Florida Gulf Coast University in 2016 after serving as Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan-Flint from 2014 to 2016 and Assistant Professor of Economics from 2008 to 2014. Dr. Biehl earned a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Economics from Eastern Michigan University, as well as an M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Biehl’s research interests include real estate, public economics, and entrepreneurship. Her research has been presented at conferences held by the National Tax Association, the American Economic Association, the Missouri Valley Economic Association, the Academy of Business and Economics, and the Southern Economic Association. Dr. Biehl’s research appears in the American Economic Review Papers and Proceedings, Real Estate Economics, the Journal of Economics, Small Business Economics, and Economic Inquiry.
