During my tenure as faculty member, chair, associate dean, and interim dean at FGCU (48 semesters, including summers) I instructed 67 classes and designed twelve preparations of which six were graduate preparations and six were undergraduate. Eight of these twelve courses were completely new to me. In each one of these classes my aim has been to challenge students to open their minds and make sure that they leave the course with a higher level of desire for learning than they thought possible. Because of my experience in departmental leadership in accounting, I am familiar with program assessment and course content specification in all areas except tax. In that regard, I am a "go to" person.

My publications mainly address the economic consequences of accounting standards, impact of accounting information on management and investment behavior, and use of accounting information in setting economic and tax policy.

During the past five years, I specialized in teaching Accounting Theory and Standards (both US and Global), Cost Accounting, Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting, and Consolidations. Details can be found in my CV.

Currently, I have 75 articles in 32 different journals. First, I am particularly proud of the eight (8) articles published with various teams of students from the Accounting Theory and Advanced Auditing classes (ACG 6135 and 6655) and my colleagues. These articles guide selected students towards doctoral degree. They also give confidence to students as they prepare for a career in accounting. Finally, they are important resume builders and support career advancement.

Next, the articles explaining the functioning of the Turkish economy are the products of basic research. They are path breaking articles that led to much replication in other developing countries.

Finally, the articles dealing with convertible bonds, leases, pensions, deferred taxes, and stock options address areas where the required accounting measurement and reporting rules fail to provide complete information and must be revised. I will continue to conduct research in the area of inadequate accounting standards during the next five years. Details can be found in my CV.

I have presented 70 research findings at nearly all major national and regional accounting conferences in the area of financial accounting. In addition, I have held seminars for many professional accounting firms and societies and NCH. Details can be found in my CV.

Over my career, I have received 15 grants, mainly from universities and several CPA firms. Details can be found in my CV.
