    Mrs. Carol Sweeney is currently an instructor at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Carol was a founding member of the Economics Department at FGCU. Since joining FGCU in 2001 she has taught, Principles of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Issues in Politics and Economics, and Sports Economics, and Economic Development. She is active as a Faculty sponsor for The Future Female Business Leaders, Economics Student Association and Global Business Brigades chapter at FGCU. Her research interests include Economics Education, Development Economics, and Sports Economics.

    Mrs. Sweeney earned an M. S. in Economic Development Studies, at the University College Dublin, Ireland in (1994) and earned Higher Diploma in Economic Science at St. Patrick's College Maynooth, Ireland (1992) and a Bachelor of Science in Economics at George Mason University (1989) where she was introduced to the Austrian School of Economics and The Public Choice work of Dr. James Buchanan.

    When not teaching Mrs. Sweeney is busy watching Rugby, Football (both types American and Soccer) and Formula One. She enjoys baking and traveling with her family.
