
Robert Hawkes joined FGCU in 2015 as the Founding Program Director for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. He has was an Assistant Professor at another physician assistant program and Program Director of a EMS/Paramedic Program in Maine. He earned a Master of Science Physician Assistant from the University of New England in Portland, Maine. He also received a B.S. Business Administration and B.A. Natural and Applied Sciences Biology of Human Health from the University of Southern Maine and Paramedic Technology certificate from Northeastern University.
Professor Hawkes is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Florida Academy of Physician Assistant and Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants. He was been a contributing author and content reviewer for many physician assistant and pharmacology textbooks. He has served as a medical expert for Southwest Florida media during the COVID-19 pandemic having participated in over 250 television and print media requests.
Clinical Experiences: Emergency Medicine in rural and suburban hospitals.
