Dr. McFarland is a passionate individual with a Doctoral degree in Education. She
has expertise in the field of teaching across the life span and additional certification
in clinical mental health counseling, with an emphasis in solution-focused therapy.
She presently teaches community health courses for Florida Gulf Coast University students
and has done so for the past fourteen years. She has extensive expertise in the area
of childhood development. She is a confident professional with assorted community
instructional experiences within diverse educational environments.
During her tenure as a Pre-K-12 professional educator, she has worked with many area
school districts, administrators, assisted district strategic planning committees,
has served on school education advisory boards, and serves as the Executive Director
of the Kleist Health Education Center at Florida Gulf Coast University. She has a
multitude of educational experience in the areas grant writing, curriculum development,
assessment, instruction, and undergraduate intern supervision, within the College
of Health and Human Services at FGCU. Dr. McFarland has presented at several state
health conferences. In 2013, her research on perceived discrimination and health outcomes
was published in an academic journal. She is a product of FGCU and would like to give
back to her surrounding community.
Clinical Experiences:
- Dr. McFarland's clinical experiences includes interning at Park Royal Behavioral Facility while completing her Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling.
