Students will represent majors from across the university (as well as “undeclared”
given that these students will be in their first year). Faculty leaders and mentors
will represent multiple colleges and departments.
Accepted students will have two required cohort courses in the fall semester: IDS
2930 (1 credit, General Elective) Interdisciplinary Studies and ENT 2000 (3 credits, General Education Social Science), Introduction to Entrepreneurship. The IDS course, which will be taught by the lead faculty member, will serve as the
designated LLC “common hour” where students will explore a wide range of topics related
to entrepreneurship and professional development. They will enroll in the same course
in the spring term (the content will be different).
Students will engage in a semester-long service-learning project through the IDS course, and they will participate in the CEO Club Student
Chapter, which will expose them to campus and community entrepreneurial initiatives,
speakers, experts, etc.
Students will be paired withpeer and near-peer mentorsthat will likely have participated in a previous Entrepreneurship LLC and/or the ongoing
Runway Project. Students also will have acommunity mentorwho will serve as a link to local community entrepreneurial activities. Lastly, students
will haveFGCU faculty mentors. This constellation of mentors will ensure students’ success as entrepreneurs, regardless
of major.
Students in the Entrepreneurship LLC are awarded an automatic bid into the Runway
Program Incubator upon completion of their first year in the LLC program.
One of the most unique parts of this community is your direct connection with faculty and staff.
You will also have a peer mentor that will serve as a guide and resource for you throughout
the year in addition to your Resident Assistant and other community members.
This program is designed to help you be successful in your first year while providing
you connections and opportunities immediately within your major or minor in ENT.
If you have a roommate that is going to be in the Entrepreneurship LLC as well you can preference them, but you are unable to select someone that will not
be in the community.
When you agree to be a part of this community, you are agreeing to see it through for the entire academic year.
Our Housing staff are here to assist you with any concerns you may have, but we are
confident that this program will be a great asset to your first year if you see it
through.
All first year students are part of our FYRE Program so there will still be aspects
of FYRE brought into your community and we highly encourage you to take part in events such a Spooktacular, Center for
Academic Achievement Workshops and Nights on FYRE.
I'm interested in participating, what do I do now?
