Chelsea Ganey

Mentoring the Next Generation

As a first-generation college student, Chelsea Ganey entered Florida Gulf Coast University with additional challenges to finding her path to a degree and a career in her chosen field. FGCU faculty helped her successfully navigate the curriculum and the business industry the way a mentor would, including helping her find her first job after graduation, she says.

Now a chief strategy officer at Moran Wealth Management in Naples, she’s giving back to her alma mater and the next generation following in her footsteps through the Lutgert College of Business Mentorship Program. Lutgert mentors are committed to sharing knowledge, advice and constructive feedback to assist students in the transition from college to the real world in relationships that could last long after graduation.

“One thing I always say about FGCU is that local employers know the quality of the graduates,” Ganey says. “I highlight the close relationships you can have at FGCU with your professors. They’ve had real experience with incredible careers, sometimes in larger cities, that can serve as a network for you. At FGCU you have access to your faculty.”

Because making professional connections empowers professional success.
