Students can take advantage of our free virtual, in-person, and asynchronous sessions with expert writing consultants. The Writing Lab also offers quiet space for students to revise, refine, and create their literary works before and after a session. The Writing Lab can help any student, any major, at any part in the writing process.

To Book Appointments:
Appointments can be made for an in-person session or a virtual session.
In-person sessions are located on campus at the Writing Lab in Library West 202 and virtual sessions are held online through Microsoft Teams.

Drop-in Sessions:
Drop-ins are first come, first served so if you would like a secured spot for a session please make an appointment. All sessions normally last 20 - 30 minutes so please arrive with enough time to complete a full session.
In-person sessions will be located on campus at the Writing Lab in Library West 202. Once you arrive you will be added to a drop-in queue where a writing consultant will assist you as soon as they are available.
For a virtual session you can join our online drop-in queue via the link below during our hours of operation. Sessions are not offered on days when classes are not in session.
Asynchronous Submissions:
Asynchronous online submissions require no face-to-face interactions and operate through our online dropbox.
Click the link below and join the Canvas course for the Writing Lab. Here you can access the dropbox to submit your work and additional materials for an asynchronous Writing Lab session. A Writing Consultant will use the 30-minute session to make comments on the submission and return it to you via email.
Submissions will be reviewed during Writing Lab business hours and returned within 3 - 5 business days. Students who need their paper reviewed sooner are encouraged to book a Writing Lab appointment.

Our Vision
The Writing Lab will act as a campus writing hub while embracing innovation and education to assist FGCU students in becoming stronger writers and thinkers.
Our Location
The Writing Lab is located in Library West 202. Enter the library through the Library West entrance, located alongside the ArtLab. You should see eagle footprints leading you to the Center for Academic Achievement. You can take either the stairs or the elevator across from TRIO to reach the second floor. The Writing Lab is through the double doors.
