Department of Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Engineering

HOLMES 0322
Structural Engineering; Structural Dynamics; Structural Health Monitoring; Computational Engineering

Dr. Ali Ozdagli is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Florida Gulf Coast University. He earned Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and Computer Science from Vanderbilt University, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Boğaziçi University. Prior to joining FGCU, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of New Mexico. His research lies at the intersection of structural engineering and computing, with interests in structural dynamics, structural health monitoring, real-time hybrid simulation, wireless and edge sensing, and machine learning for civil infrastructure. His work combines experimental research, sensing technologies, computational methods, and data-driven approaches to improve the monitoring and assessment of structural systems. He also actively mentors undergraduate and graduate students through research and project-based learning.
