Cole earned his Ph.D. from the University of Louisville in 2019 and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Western Kentucky University before coming to FGCU in 2020.

Cole is a member of the Academy of Management and USASBE.

Cole's research focuses on innovation management and entrepreneurship within established businesses, and he is particularly interested in new organizational designs and processes within corporate ventures. His research appears in such peer reviewed outlets as the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Organization Studies, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, and the Academy of Management Proceedings.
