Dr. Chengyi Qu joined FGCU as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing & Software Engineering in the fall of 2023. Previously, he was a research assistant at the University of Missouri–Columbia and the Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Qu graduated from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 2023 with a Ph.D. in Computer Science. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Northeastern University (China) in 2016.

Dr. Qu currently serves as the Director of the FGCU EagleCyberNest Cybersecurity Experiential Learning Lab (https://www.fgcu.edu/eng/computing-software-engineering/eaglecybernest/). His research focuses on cybersecurity, edge/cloud computing, federated learning, unmanned aerial systems, intelligent communication, and AI in cybersecurity applications. He has led graduate, undergraduate, and visiting researchers on federally, state, and university-funded projects and has collaborated with researchers from numerous national and international institutions.

Dr. Qu teaches courses in cybersecurity, IoT security, information security compliance, and cloud computing. He is also actively involved in the academic community through peer reviewing for IEEE/ACM conferences and journals. He is an IEEE Member and a member of the IEEE Communications Society.
