Carvajal, Lucero (Ed.D.)
Dr. Carvajal is the Director of Academic and Curriculum Support for Academic Affairs,
and serves as the first point of contact for FGCU faculty and staff with curricular
questions; she also provides guidance and oversight of the academic curriculum development
process, including preparation of program documentation required for Board of Trustees
review and approval, and subsequent communication with the Office of the Board of
Governors. Dr. Carvajal provides administrative support to the Undergraduate Curriculum
Team and Graduate Curriculum Team of the Faculty Senate, ensures accuracy of the Program
List with CIP Codes, and also ensures that Academic Learning Compacts are published.
She collaborates with the Department of Records & Registration in the revision and
production of the University catalog, and works with them to ensure that curriculum
is consistent in the degree audit system and catalog.
Originally from Colombia, Dr. Carvajal earned a Law degree and later came to the United
States in 2002. She previously worked at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in New
York before coming to FGCU in 2004, where she began in the Registrar's Office. She
has also served as Academic Advisor III and Director of Advising for the College of
Arts and Sciences. She earned a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) with a concentration
in Management and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a concentration in Higher Education
Leadership from FGCU; she joined the Office of Academic and Curriculum Support in
December 2014. During her tenure at FGCU, she was awarded the Team Service Excellence
Award (2010-2011), the Excellence in Advising Award (2011-2012), and the Best Poster
Award, NACADA Regional Conference (2012).
