Weigold, Nicole
Nicole is the Bonita Water Steward, a new position designed by The City of Bonita Springs and FGCU. Her role is to produce results of mutual interest to FGCU and City of Bonita Springs through monitoring and responding to harmful algae, fish kills, and water quality concerns in Imperial River, Estero Bay, and Bonita Beach under the direction of Dr. Michael Parsons. Other tasks include assisting FWC with marine mammal rescues and recoveries.
Prior to joining the Vester Field station, Nicole held certifications in open water and nitrox diving. Since joining VFS, she has acquired her advanced open water, dive emergency medical provider, rescue, and AAUS Scientific Diver certifications.
In Nicole's free time, you can find her with her pet snake or exploring the Picayune Strand State Forest.
