Upchurch, Randall (Ph.D.)
Dr. Randall S. Upchurch is a professor in the School of Resort & Hospitality Management at Florida Gulf Coast University which is housed within the Lutgert College of Business. He has twenty-nine years of professional timeshare business experience as well as the leading academic expert in timeshare resort operations.
Dr. Upchurch earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri – Columbia; a Master of Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Missouri – Columbia; and a Doctorate in Practical Arts and Vocational Technical Education from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Dr. Upchurch is a recognized expert in the emerging field of timeshare resort development. During his academic career he developed curriculum on the topics of timeshare resort operations, timeshare concept development, and fractional development and operations. In that regard, Dr. Upchurch is the previous holder of the American Resort Development Association’s Professorship in Timeshare Development award. He has produced over 70 academic articles with many of those publications emphasizing resort development, resort management, strategic management, business development, tourism development, and business ethics. He is the author of a leading textbook in the field titled Timeshare Resort Operations, an Elsevier publication and is author of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Timeshare Industry: The Art of Being Creative, Mindful, and Consumer Centric. Furthermore, Dr. Upchurch has served as a consumer analyst for a variety of hospitality enterprises and as such has served as an invited speaker with the USA and abroad.
