Dr. Simeon (Sim) J. Komisar joined FGCU as Program Director of Environmental Engineering, Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering in August 2008.

Prior to his appointment at FGCU, Dr Komisar was an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Coordinator for Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. His expertise is in water and wastewater engineering, renewable energy and sustainability. Dr. Komisar was appointed the Backe Chair of Renewable Energy in 2019
