Campus Alert: Simulated Emergency Response Planned Wednesday Afternoon Outside AB9

February 23, 2026

On Wednesday, FGCU is hosting a Pediatric Emergency Preparedness Summit in Margaret Antonier Hall (Academic Building 9), and a simulated scenario involving a mock explosion will take place outside.

This is a planned exercise and not a real emergency.

Here is what you need to know:

  • The simulation will take place outside on the building’s lawn area between 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The training site will be marked with signage.
  • You may hear loud sounds, such as sirens and patient screams that are played from speakers. You may also see mannequins representing injured or deceased patients. Simulations will run multiple times during this period.
  • Approximately 120 people, including 15 students from Marieb College of Health & Human Services, will participate.
  • There are no changes to campus classes or operations
  • All roadways and sidewalks on campus will remain open, and parking will remain unaffected.

Questions about the training can be directed to Emergency Management at (239) 590-1926.
