Student Success Advocates

Student Success Advocates serve as a central point of connection for students by:

• Employing a Culture of Care through building meaningful relationships, listening with intention, and providing proactive, personalized support that centers each student’s well-being, sense of belonging, and academic progress.

• Utilizing the Identify, Refer, Support, Resolve framework to proactively identify student needs, connect students to the appropriate campus resources, coordinate timely interventions, and follow through to resolution—ensuring no student falls through the cracks.

• Partnering with students to clarify academic and personal goals, develop realistic and actionable plans, and support informed decision-making that aligns with students’ strengths, priorities, and long-term success.

• Providing timely outreach when concerns are identified, coordinate follow-up support, and maintain ongoing communication to ensure students remain connected, supported, and progressing toward resolution and success.

Advocates do not replace academic advisors or faculty. Instead, they complement existing support by helping students coordinate services and move forward with confidence.

Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment if they:

• Feel overwhelmed or unsure where to start

• Are struggling academically or personally

• Have questions about university processes or next steps

• Need help connecting with campus offices or services

• Want additional support staying on track toward graduation

Faculty and staff may also refer students who could benefit from extra guidance or follow-up.

Students can meet with a Student Success Advocate virtually or in person.
