National Science Foundation Scholarship
Noyce@FGCU STEM Scholarships is a cooperative initiative of FGCU’s College of Education and the Whitaker Center for STEM Education, and the school districts of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties.
To help meet the critical demand for teachers in science, technology, engineering
and mathematics (STEM), FGCU offers scholarships for qualified, talented students
majoring in STEM disciplines and minoring in education who commit to becoming certified
teachers and serving in local public schools after graduation.
With funding from the National Science Foundation’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship program, Noyce@FGCU offers financial support for up to 4 years of tuition and housing for STEM majors.

- Juniors & Seniors: up to $14,000 for in-state tuition and housing
- Teacher Certification Exam assistance
- Monthly professional development activities
- Summer opportunities to work with K-12 STEM students
- Support for teacher candidates with certification and teaching
Noyce@FGCU scholars take all of the required courses for a STEM major and an education minor. Scholars commit to employment as a teacher in a high-need school district for 2 years for each year of scholarship support, up to a total of 4 years. (All 5 local counties are high-need.)
Graduates become certified teachers after one year of in-service teaching and receive mentoring through both the College of Education and the district to ensure their success.
Summer Internships: The Whitaker Center and other FGCU entities usually have several paid opportunities for STEM students who think they might be interested in teaching to get involved with K-12 teachers or students during the summer! These opportunities focus on STEM education and applicants must be U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or permanent residents.

Minimum Requirements:
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- STEM major
- US Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident Alien
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enjoy working with grade 6-12 students in schools, summer camps, after school programs, or tutoring
- Applicants should submit an application through the Noyce@FGCU website.
- Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Applicants also need to apply through the scholarship portal on the FGCU Foundation scholarship website. While it is only open from November 15 to March 1, late links to apply can be provided as necessary. Please contact the Whitaker Center with questions.
