Florida Gulf Coast University’s (FGCU) commitment to sustainability is fulfilled within the academic curriculum. FGCU has structured its curricula to emphasize the interrelationship of knowledge across disciplines and to provide students with the ability to think in whole systems, as well as the skills required to enter the workforce and public life as socially responsible and ecologically conscious citizens.

Students receiving a baccalaureate degree from FGCU must complete at least three (3) semester hours of sustainability coursework with a minimum grade of C.  Courses that apply toward this requirement, which include IDS 3920 University Colloquium, will be designated with the attribute SCGR. Transfer coursework will be evaluated to determine whether the course meets the criteria to receive the SCGR attribute.
