Wao, Joel (Ph.D.)
Dr. Joel Ochieng’ Wao has a number of years of professional experience in academia and the construction industry both in the U.S.A. and Kenya in East Africa. Prior to his arrival at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), he was the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Construction Science and Management (CSM) at Tuskegee University-Alabama. He completed his undergraduate degree in Building Economics (Quantity Surveying and Construction Management) from the University of Nairobi (UoN)-Kenya, and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction (concentration in Educational Measurement and Evaluation) from the University of South Florida (USF)-Tampa. Dr. Wao attained his Ph.D. degree in Construction Management from the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management at the University of Florida (UF)-Gainesville. His areas of expertise include value management, quantity surveying, project management, sustainability in the built environment, construction technology, and construction education.
