A native of the Caribbean country of Trinidad and Tobago, Mark joined FGCU in July 2022 and brings seven years of sports reporting experience covering the NAIA, NCAA, NBA and junior college levels following 13 years as a track sprinter.
ALABAMA A&M UNIVERSITY (2021-22, ASSISTANT SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR) Terrisa was the primary contact for men’s basketball, baseball, men’s tennis, women’s bowling, women’s cross country and track and women’s soccer at AAMU. In Fall 2021 she covered the women’s program as they made it to the 2021 SWAC women’s soccer tournament in Prairie View, Texas. She created live videos and player interviews for Bulldog Nation to connect with the team who could not make it to the tournament.
She also reported on the men’s basketball team who qualified for the SWAC Tournament semifinals in Birmingham, Ala., in March, 2022. She was responsible for all social media content as well as marketing with local businesses during football season.
COAHOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE (2020-21, SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR) During her time with the Tigers, Mark served as the Sports Information Director and was solely responsible for reporting and writing on the college's seven teams, including cheerleading, football, outdoor track and field, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.
This included orchestrating live stream broadcasts of games and creating highlight videos that showcased Tigers Athletics. She was also responsible for inputting each program’s statistics as well as generating graphics on all social media platforms.
Mark also produced extensive coverage on the women’s basketball team which won the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) North division and were runners-up at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament.
THE NEW TRI-STATE DEFENDER, MEMPHIS, TENN. (2019-20, SPORTS AND NEWS REPORTER) In her role with the New Tri-State Defender, she would pick up her first extensive experience covering college basketball as the beat writer for NCAA Division II and Historically Black College and University (HBCU) member LeMoyne-Owen College. In addition to providing high level coverage of LOC she earned a promotion covering the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Memphis Grizzlies who had just acquired future star Ja Morant.
In this position Mark wrote feature stories detailing Grizzlies’ games against the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and the Brooklyn Nets among others. She also conducted research and reported on the extensive coverage of the death of George Floyd and historic protests that took place in downtown Memphis.
WHBQ FOX 13 (2019-20, PRODUCTION ASSISTANT) With a background in television production, she began her professional career at Memphis news powerhouse Fox 13. While there she worked with the production crew assisting both news and sports segments and was in charge of working with the production manager to create and run graphics for live shows. Additionally, she controlled and worked the cameras during live and breaking news.
PAN AMERICAN GAMES LIMA, PERU (JULY 2019, REPORTER) As a result of Mark’s track and field background and journalism degree, Trinidad Express newspaper presented her the opportunity for her to report on the country’s athletes' performances at the Pan American Games. She conducted interviews following the athlete’s performance and wrote releases to keep the country informed and up to date with the team’s performances.
UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI TELEVISION, MIAMI, Fla. (2017-2018 ANCHOR) As a graduate student at the University of Miami, she earned a position as an anchor and reporter for the college’s television station covering Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) action. Her duties included creating sports and news packages and interviewing athletes, a role that allowed her to hone her craft and gain valuable experiences. She also placed third in the AIPS young reporters competition with her documentary explaining the life and career of Olympian Ato Bolden.
COLLEGIATE TRACK CAREER (2014-2019) Mark was offered a track and field scholarship from Wiley College left her home country in 2013 to pursue that opportunity. There, Mark gained All - American honors by competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Nationals from 2013-17. In that time, she competed in the 100 – and 200 m and was the lead hand off for the 4x100 m all four years at the national level. She was also the 2016 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) women’s 100 – and 200 m champion. She then transferred to the University of Miami, earning a spot in the masters of arts journalism program and a walk on position with the Hurricanes track and field program.
