Alumni Outreach Council brings faculty and staff together for a strong alumni network

December 03, 2024

The Alumni Outreach Council is a dynamic group of dedicated faculty and staff committed to fostering lifelong relationships between the university and its graduates. Established by Alumni Relations, the council serves as a bridge between the university and its alumni network by focusing on creating meaningful opportunities for engagement, providing professional development resources and supporting university initiatives.

Dressed in business casual attire, guests at the Alumni Award celebration are sitting at round tables enjoying dinner. The venue features dim blue lighting throughout the room and an LED light display in the words “Alumni Awards” is displayed in the background along with a catering table.

The Alumni Awards recognizes outstanding graduates for their exceptional achievements and contributions to their fields and communities. Nominations come from a variety of sources, including the dedicated efforts of the Alumni Outreach Council.

Since its inception, the Alumni Outreach Council has met quarterly to brainstorm ways to keep graduates connected to the university, learn about key departments on campus and make connections with each other.

Additionally, the Alumni Outreach Council plays a key role in FGCU’s Homecoming festivities. Members are actively involved in organizing events that bring alumni back to campus, helping to rekindle school spirit and offer opportunities for alumni to reconnect with old friends, network with peers and support current students.

“We are so grateful to the members of the Alumni Outreach Council for their dedication and hard work,” said Kimberly Wallace, senior director of Alumni Relations. “Their commitment to building an engaged alumni community plays a vital role in enhancing the FGCU experience for everyone. Their contributions ensure that FGCU’s legacy continues to grow stronger with each passing year.”

Dressed in casual clothing, they are posing behind a gold and blue backdrop as they do the “wings up” sign and hold an inflatable $100 bill. Blue Stanchion ropes can be seen in front of the group. Looking ahead, the Alumni Outreach Council will continue to work with Alumni Relations to recruit alumni to speak in classes, serve on panels and mentor students. With a focus on professional development, community involvement and continued support for FGCU’s academic and athletic programs, the council’s work is essential to the university’s continued growth and success.
