FGCU hosts Fulbright Program for a fifth year
March 02, 2026
For the fifth year in a row, FGCU is participating in the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program, a six-week program from January to March that welcomes 23 secondary-level educators from around the world.
Fulbright teacher-exchange programs are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX, which is the International Research & Exchanges Board.
At FGCU, participants attend academic seminars on campus that focus on topics such as new teaching methodologies, student-centered learning, content-based instruction, lesson planning, instructional technology training for teachers, as well as U.S. history and the education system.
Faculty and staff across campus, along with partners in the Southwest Florida community, help support the program. This includes employees in Innovative Education & Partnerships, College of Education, The Water School, Service Learning & Civic Engagement, Whitaker Institute, University Library, Office of Global Engagement, among others.

Participants from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan wear traditional clothing from their country.
FGCU’s Fulbright TEA participants are from the following countries: Armenia, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, Georgia, Ghana, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Moldova, Nepal, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Papua New Guinea, Serbia, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia. To enable the campus community to learn more about the program’s participants, a cultural festival was held on campus in February.
