Transform your office needs into a service-learning opportunity

August 18, 2025

Did you know that students can complete service-learning hours toward their graduation requirement in your office? Many students major in disciplines connected to the work your office does every day. Through service-learning, you can transform your existing needs into an opportunity for students to gain real-world experience and further explore their major or passion.

A few examples of how students from various majors can support your office/department include:

  • Marketing & Communication: Assist with social media campaigns, event promotions or designing outreach materials.
  • Education: Support tutoring programs, classroom enrichment or youth engagement initiatives on campus and in the community.
  • Health Sciences & Nursing: Host wellness workshops, assist with health education events or help develop resource guides.
  • Environmental Studies: Contribute to sustainability programs, campus gardens or environmental awareness campaigns.
  • Business & Management: Help with program planning, budgeting, data collection or logistical coordination.
  • Arts & Media: Capture photos or videos, design graphics or curate visual storytelling for department projects.

If your office is interested in a service-learning partnership, the Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement offers resources and guidance to help you create a bridge between service-learning and classroom curriculum.
