Student Veterans of America (SVA) at Florida Gulf Coast University empower military-connected students by supporting their academic, personal, and professional success. We are committed to fostering a strong, inclusive community through advocacy, service, leadership, and peer engagement; and welcome all military-connected students, which includes active-duty military members, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, dependents, and our allies.
Our Mission
Our mission is to elevate the academic, professional, and personal development of military-connected students through mentorship, campus programs and resources, outreach, service-learning, and advocacy. We strive to create lasting, sustainable success both during and beyond students’ time at Florida Gulf Coast University.

The SVA-PATH Program is our signature peer mentorship initiative developed in partnership with the FGCU Military & Veteran Success office. PATH supports military-connected students as they transition into college life by offering:
- One-on-one mentorship from trained student veterans and military-connected students
- Campus and community resource navigation
- Group workshops and orientation support
- Community-building activities that foster a sense of belonging
- Ongoing feedback review to improve support and outreach
By focusing on connection, advocacy, and informed guidance, PATH aligns with the standards of the Florida Collegiate Purple Star Campus Designation and reinforces the shared mission of Student Veterans of America at FGCU, FGCU Military & Veteran Success, and the FGCU Office of Service-Learning.
