Summary
- The Southwest Florida issued 976 single-family building permits in January 2026, a 32.6 percent drop from January 2025 but 7.1 percent above December 2025.
- Lee County issued 551 permits in January 2026, down 43.1 percent from the previous year but 9.5 percent above the prior month.
- In Collier County, 181 permits were issued in January 2026, down 23.3 percent from January 2025 but 15.3 percent above December 2025.
- Charlotte County recorded 209 permits issued in January 2026, rising 2.0 percent from January 2025 but 2.8 percent beneath December 2025.
- Hendry County issued 30 single-family building permits in January 2026, down 14.3 percent from January 2025 and 6.3 percent below December 2025.
- Glades County reported 5 single-family building permits issued in January 2026, up one permit from the previous month.
About the Data
Single-family building permits data is collected from the U.S. Census Bureau Building Permit Survey and supplemented with data collected from local building and zoning departments in Southwest Florida. All data is updated on a monthly basis.
