    Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Mr. Bernardo holds a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Michigan where he studied with noted saxophonist Donald Sinta. At Florida Gulf Coast University, Mr. Bernardo is the Coordinator of Music Technology, and the saxophone instructor at the Bower School of Music. He was recently featured as a soloist performing on the FGCU CD “Introductions: The Wind Orchestra”. Mr. Bernardo has commissioned and premiered compositions for saxophone including Rhapsody for Saxophone and Orchestra by Vaclav Nelhybel and Sonata for Saxophone and Piano by Hubert Bird. He was a Fulbright Scholar for Study Abroad recipient, and has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recital appearances throughout Florida, New England and Portugal .His teaching credits include saxophone instruction throughout Southwest Florida, and previously in the New England area, including Keene State College of the University of New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce College and the Brattleboro, Vermont Music Center. In addition, he has been active in computer assisted music technology projects in the areas of music typography, ear training software, and music software reviews.
