Academic hall renovations begin May
April 21, 2026
With campus activity reduced during the summer months, FGCU will use this period to complete renovations across several academic halls, helping to minimize disruptions.
As you move around campus, please be aware that the following academic halls will be under renovation May through early August:
- Griffin Hall | From May 4 to May 15, first floor offices will undergo repainting.
- Holmes Hall | From May 4 to July 27, floors 1 and 2 will undergo painting and carpet replacement in the corridors, study areas and offices.
- Merwin Hall | From May 4 to July 4, floors 1 and 2 will undergo wallpaper removal and painting in the main corridors and offices, and tiling of the lobby area and stairs.
- Reed Hall: From May 4 to August 7, floors 1 and 2 will undergo wallpaper removal, painting and carpet replacement in the main corridors and tiling of the lobby areas, as well as bathroom renovations. To minimize disruptions, only one bathroom will be renovated at a time.
- Sugden Hall | From May 18 to June 12, first floor offices and conference room will undergo painting and carpet replacement.
In addition to academic hall renovations, FGCU is working on major campus projects, including:
- Academic Building 10 | Fencing of the construction site takes place May through August. Construction begins August and continues over the next 2 years.
- Card Reader Replacements| Starting the week of April 27 through the summer, approximately 600 card readers across campus will be replaced as part of a safety and security upgrade.
- Academic Core | From May 4 to August 7, the lawn area along the academic core will see updated landscaping, the installation of wireless access points and a new central pathway will be created.
You will notice extra noise and dust around campus during this time, but rest assured that maintaining a safe and clean environment for daily operations is a top priority.
