Unlocking opportunities through SAC
August 18, 2026
As the new academic year begins, staff can take advantage of programs and resources offered through the Staff Advisory Council (SAC) that support professional development, educational goals and campus involvement. In addition to fostering communication, advocating for employee interests and supporting a positive workplace culture at FGCU, SAC provides opportunities designed to help employees grow and engage throughout the year.
Among these opportunities is the SAC Professional Development Program. The program helps staff cover the cost of professional development opportunities, such as attending conferences, that may not otherwise be possible without financial assistance. Opportunities must be directly related to an employee's career goals and current job responsibilities at FGCU.
In addition, SAC offers educational awards for eligible employees. The SAC and Barnes & Noble Bookstore Award grants two $250 awards each semester. The SAC Scholarship, administered through the FGCU Foundation, provides scholarship support for a staff member, or their dependent, for the academic year.
Employees kick off SAC’s 2026 Soar into Spring week.
SAC also hosts Soar into Spring in March, a week-long series of personal and professional development events for faculty and staff. Events range from workshops and facility tours to wet walks and self-defense classes.
From professional development and educational awards to events and campus involvement opportunities, SAC offers a variety of ways for staff to engage throughout the academic year. Staff members can get involved by attending SAC's monthly meetings, beginning with the first meeting of the fall semester from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 in Margaret Antonier Hall (Academic Building 9), Room 138.
