FGCU announces university core values

Earlier this year, the Taskforce on FGCU Values began its work on identifying our core values that would help govern the behaviors we expect of ourselves and one another at the university.
The taskforce heard from many across campus about the workplace experience. It led 26 listening sessions, connected with unit and shared governance groups, hosted listening sessions and gathered ideas through surveys, online feedback forms and focus groups.
These efforts led to the announcement of FGCU's core values during the 2025 Fall Kickoff Celebration.

- Develop forward-thinking, strategic solutions

“These values aren’t just words on a page – they are the principles that guide our decisions, our actions, our expected behaviors and our work culture,” said President Aysegul Timur.
FGCU has always been guided by these values, but Timur said the taskforce elevated their importance. They will now be embedded in the university’s culture, helping employees hold one another accountable while shaping performance reviews, promotions, recruitment, onboarding and recognition.
The core values will also define the institution’s collective actions and steps forward with the strategic plan: “Innovating for Student Success – FGCU’s Journey to Excellence.”
