Fall Kickoff Recap + Upcoming Opportunities to Connect

August 13, 2026

FGCU set an all-new attendance record last week during the 2026 Fall Kickoff Celebration, with 905 staff and faculty coming together for the annual event. This email provides a brief recap of the festivities and shares upcoming opportunities to connect and show your Eagle spirit.

  • During her State of the University remarks, President Aysegul Timur celebrated the contributions and accomplishments of employees while outlining what’s next for the university. Access a video of President Timur's remarks online.

  • The university gift included branded notebooks, FGCU-spirited stickers for your laptop and keyboard, and a bookmark commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. If you missed the event, send me an email to request a giveaway while supplies last.

  • The Eagle Family donated $812 and 377 pounds of food items to the FGCU Campus Food Pantry. Your kindness helps our students who are experiencing food insecurity. Learn more about the pantry’s “wish list” items on its website – donations are welcome year-round.

  • Azul’s Most Spirited Eagle is Liz Molina, operations specialist in Human Resources. Congratulations, Liz!

  • Photos from the event will be included in the Inside FGCU employee newsletter at www.fgcu.edu/inside.

Keep the momentum going with these upcoming opportunities:

  • Soar In for a Sweet Treat: From noon to 2 p.m. Friday, the Internal Communications Committee will be passing out ice cream and popsicles as supplies last on the Library Lawn. Register through Eagle Link.

  • Welcome to the Nest: Sunday marks the first-ever Welcome to the Nest event, an opportunity to help our 2,500 new students feel connected to their classmates, our campus and the community around them. Volunteer opportunities are still available for employees, and you can volunteer for a role through SignUpGenius.

  • FGCU Spirit Days: Every Friday, employees are encouraged to wear their blue and green in support of the university. Share your photos with newsletter@fgcu.edu for a chance to be featured in the Inside FGCU employee newsletter.
