Welcoming the Media

Advance coordination is required for interviews, filming or photography within academic buildings, residence halls, classrooms, labs or other restricted areas. Access may be limited based on scheduling, safety or privacy considerations. For assistance, media representatives should reach out to mediarelations@fgcu.edu.

Commercial Filming on Campus
Commercial production crews interested in filming at FGCU must obtain prior approval through UMC. A formal request should be submitted several weeks in advance to allow time for review and coordination with relevant departments. All filming activities must comply with university policies and procedures.
For assistance, please contact UMC@fgcu.edu.
Responding to Media Inquiries
FGCU faculty and staff may be contacted by reporters directly seeking expert commentary or information. Employees are encouraged to notify UMC of any media outreach so we can assist with responding promptly. If a request falls outside your area of expertise, please forward it to our office so it can be redirected appropriately.
Timely and accurate responses help ensure FGCU’s voice is well-represented in the media.
Media Training & News Support
UMC welcomes submissions from across campus. Whether you're announcing a major achievement, promoting an event or sharing a unique perspective, our team can help shape your message and amplify its reach. Please fill out the marketing request form.
Our media relations team also provides monthly training for faculty experts. The comprehensive in-person session is free and covers best practices when communicating with external stakeholders.
