Welcome to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Research and sponsored programs are integral and essential parts of our teaching mission and play a major role in the educational process at FGCU. Our faculty research efforts enrich teaching and the classroom experience of our students. These efforts provide a rich environment for students to take part in scholarly work while attending FGCU.
Faculty and staff at FGCU have illustrated their dedication and commitment to research and sponsored programs through participation in numerous research related activities and our overall success in securing awards. Research and sponsored programs have grown from just under $3 million in 1997-1998 to nearly $14 million in 2007-2008. Many peer institutions that have been in existence for decades have not achieved the same level of success.
The ORSP is a service-oriented office and is the designated central clearinghouse for all external proposal submissions and related research and sponsored program activities. We understand and appreciate the many barriers that are often associated with engaging in research and sponsored programs. In an effort to combat these barriers we have created an infrastructure that is service oriented, knowledgeable, and eager to work with you. Please visit us to learn more about our numerous programs, explore our funding source library, inquire about our travel awards, or work on a proposal without interruption. You can count on us to assist you from the beginning to the end of your efforts to secure external funding.
