How to Apply
Students interested in becoming a Learning Assistant (LA) should complete the Student LA Application during one of the application periods below.
Spring 2027
Application Period: October 26–November 15, 2026
Application link will be available when the application period opens.
Summer 2027
Application Period: March 29–April 12, 2027
Application link will be available when the application period opens.
Fall 2027
Priority Application Period
April 16–May 7, 2027
Second Application Period
June 18–July 2, 2027
The second application period is contingent upon available LA Program funding.
Application links will be posted when each application period opens.
What Happens After You Apply?
Becoming an LA involves several steps. Completing the Student LA Application is the first step and does not guarantee an LA position.
- Apply to Become an LA
Complete the Student LA Application during the appropriate application period above.
- Matching & Interviewing
The LA Program works to match potential LAs with available courses and faculty. Faculty may contact potential LAs for an interview before confirming a match.
- Complete the FGCU Employment Application
Once a match is confirmed, you will receive instructions by email for completing the required FGCU employment application.
- Complete HR Hiring Requirements
Complete all required hiring steps through FGCU Human Resources (HR). All hiring requirements must be completed before beginning work as an LA.
- Confirm Your LA Pedagogy Course
Confirm your enrollment in the appropriate LA Pedagogy course for the semester.
- Attend LA Orientation
First-time LAs are required to attend LA Orientation before beginning their LA role.
