Get the Most From Your Advising Appointments

The following items help you prepare to meet with your advisor

Review your DegreeWorks Audit in detail. Write down any questions you have and courses you would like to take next semester that fit into your plan.
Review your Major Track, General Education Requirements, Program Requirements and/or previous course plans provided by your advisor.
Begin searching for appropriate courses to register for. Write down any courses you are interested in taking and any questions you have about them.
Check your holds! Be sure you do not have any holds that will prevent registering for future courses.
Bring these materials and your questions to your advising meeting.
Bring a pen and paper with you to take notes.
Show up to your appointment at least 5 minutes early.

The DegreeWorks GPA Calculator is a useful tool in exploring your current GPA, how to achieve a specific GPA, or whether a desired GPA is possible within your remaining credits to degree. FGCU’s grading system includes grades of: A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F, I, NR, S, U, W, WF, X, and Z. DegreeWorks is available to all students through Gulfline and includes three variations on GPA calculation:
- Graduation Calculator: This is the default calculator and will determine if a desired graduation GPA is possible and how to achieve it.
- Term Calculator: This will display your current FGCU GPA, completed credits and courses you are currently enrolled in. By selecting the expected grade from the drop down boxes for each course and clicking “Calculate” a new projected FGCU GPA will display. This calculator will tell you your highest GPA currently possible and how to achieve it.
- Advice Calculator: This will display your current FGCU GPA and credits earned. In addition, this calculator will outline the credits and grades needed to achieve the desired GPA.
