Lee County Executive Business Climate Survey First Quarter 2021 Report

The RERI has published the Lee County Executive Business Climate Survey Report for the first quarter of 2021.  The goal of the survey is to capture the assessment of and expectations for the local economy, the workforce, and industry of business owners in Lee County.

The research team uses this information to create the Executive Business Climate Index for Lee County, which the Horizon Council and FGCU have been tracking since 2012.  The index takes on a value between 0 and 100, with 0 meaning the economy is substantially worse and 100 indicating the economy is substantially better.  The index fell to 52.8 in the first quarter of 2021, down 3 points from the previous quarter and 9.7 points below the first quarter of 2020.

The survey also features a set of special topic questions that change each month.  The goal of these questions is to learn more about business owner perspectives on more current events.  Special topic questions in the latest survey focused on the new presidential administration, the new minimum wage laws passed in Florida Amendment 2, and corporate trainings.

We would like to thank all of the executives that participated in our survey.  Without your continued feedback each quarter, our surveys would not be possible.  Furthermore, we would also like to thank our sponsors, the Horizon Council, for helping make the survey happen.
