An Immersive Learning Experience
From the first introductory course in education, teacher candidates are immersed in local school settings. The coursework and field experiences are integrated to ensure deeper, more meaningful learning. There are three independent field experiences in the College of Education. During the introductory course, EDF 2005, students have their first experience in the schools. Then, teacher candidates in Block 1 are placed at a school site for one day a week for eight consecutive weeks. Assignment and observation protocols are provided as a guide to this authentic learning experience. Projected for spring 2019, a similar experience will occur for all students enrolled in Block 2.
