Rottig, Daniel (Ph.D.)

    Dr. Daniel Rottig is Professor of International Business and Global Strategic Management. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Management with emphasis on (Global) Strategic Management and International Business, an MBA degree in International Business, an undergraduate degree (German Diploma) in Business Administration with the triadic emphases on International Economics, Finance, and Marketing, and a Diploma in International Studies.

    Dr. Rottig's research focuses on the institutional and cultural environments of multinational corporations, the performance determinants of international mergers and acquisitions, strategy in emerging markets, and global social and ethical organizational issues. He has published extensively in his field and has received numerous awards and award nominations for his scholarly work from the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Management and leading publishers in international business and management. Most recently, he has received the 2018-19 University Scholarship Excellence Award from Florida Gulf Coast University.

    Prof. Rottig is a passionate educator whose goal is to help students and executives understand the global business environment and how to strategically manage firms in international markets. He has been an invited, international visiting professor and speaker at some of the world’s leading universities in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East and has won a number of teaching awards. He is the recipient of the 2017-18 University Teaching Excellence Award and the first and so far only faculty member in the history of Florida Gulf Coast University who has won both, the annual University Teaching Excellence Award and the annual University Scholarship Excellence Award.

    He is actively involved in the academic community and has served as editor, associate editor, senior editor, editorial review board member and as an active reviewer for a number of reputable journals and academic conferences, which shows in the form of several best reviewer and academic service awards. Most recently, he was awarded the 2019 Academy of International Business (AIB) Service Excellence Award for his editorship of AIB Insights, which is one of the three journals of the world’s leading association of scholars and specialists in the field of international business. He has served in various executive board positions and as the chairman of the Academy of International Business Southeast USA (AIB-SE) Chapter, one of the world’s largest and most active regional chapters of the Academy of International Business, and currently serves as the dean of fellows of the AIB-SE chapter.

    Prior to beginning his career in academia, he has worked for Merrill Lynch in the United States (now Merrill, a Bank of America company) and ING Group in Europe. He is an invited member of several academic honor societies, including The International Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key International Honour Society. He was born and raised in Germany and became naturalized as a United States citizen, and thus far has had the opportunity to visit over 80 countries on 6 continents around the globe.
