Professor Groch is considered an expert in the field of golf management, customer relations, and golf facility analytics. He has written two books on these subjects entitled Effective Golf Management and Satisfaction: The Key to Industry Growth. His published peer reviewed research articles include: GSI-Key to Golfer Retention, Measuring Effective Golf Facilities, Establishing Benchmarks for Success in Golf Facilities, How to Keep Your Members Happy, and Motivating Golf Employees. In additions, he has presented his research at several PGA education seminars and international academic conferences where he has received two International "Best Paper" awards. Professor Groch is a 3-time winner of the PGA's Horton Smith Award for Excellence in Education and has won numerous awards at FGCU including: Inspirational Teacher of the Year, Excellence in Teaching Ethics, and the President's Award for Best Research.
Prior to his academic career, Mr. Groch became a PGA Professional in 1994 and served as Director of Golf at the Glades Golf & CC for almost 24 years where he retired with the honorary title of Director of Golf Emeritus. He also worked as Manager of Manufacturing Accounting at Scott Paper Company and created and sold a successful computer company, Micro Business Solutions, in 1990.
