The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) program is designed to prepare graduates to excel in a diverse, rapidly changing, and technologically oriented society.

Graduates are prepared to assume vital roles in the improvement of client health care outcomes. General education and state-mandated common prerequisites for nursing form the foundation of study for the major. The nursing curriculum is built upon the principles of critical thinking, communication, health promotion, cultural connectedness, and adherence to professional and ethical standards.

All applicable FGCU academic programs prepare students for licensure in the state of Florida. Requirements for licensure and certification vary by profession and by state. Students should check the licensure requirements for the state they plan to work in before enrollment at FGCU. About Our Program
- The BSN Program at FGCU is a specialized admission, upper-division, full-time program offered for students designated as a Pre-Nursing major. Take a moment to learn more about the Specialized Admissions Program. Admission to the BSN Program is competitive. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
The FGCU School of Nursing offers two pathways towards the completion of a BSN:
- Accelerated BSN (ABSN) Pathway
  - ABSN students are admitted in the Summer semester.
    - ABSN students complete the program in four (4) consecutive semesters.
- Traditional BSN Pathway
  - Traditional students are admitted in the Fall and Spring semesters.
    - Fall admission students complete the program in five (5) consecutive semesters including summer.
    - Spring admission students complete the program in six (6) consecutive semesters including summer.
- Due to the rigorous program requirements, we encourage students to apply for nursing scholarships. It is highly recommended that students do not work. Successful students have been known to spend 60 hours per week in class, labs, and studying.
- Time requirements remain much the same for students as they progress through the full-time BSN program.
- Travel is mandatory as the Nursing Program spans a 5 county region. Clinical sites are chosen within the region to provide the highest level of clinical practice experience for the student. Carpooling is not always an option.
Admission Process
- Pre-Nursing students must apply and be admitted to FGCU by the BSN Program deadlines and satisfy all applicable university admission requirements in order to be considered for the BSN Program. Please plan in advance as the admission process to the university may take 8 to 12 weeks.
- BSN applicants are required to submit a BSN Supplemental Application in NursingCAS, a centralized application system for nursing programs accessed through NursingCAS, administered by the School of Nursing. Please review the BSN SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION IN NURSINGCAS GUIDE TRADITIONAL AND ACCELERATED PATHWAYS
- BSN applicants must complete Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II with Labs prior to submitting the BSN Supplemental Application in NursingCAS.
- Pre-Nursing students should complete 60 credit hours, not including IDS 3920 (University Colloquium), prior to commencing the BSN Program. Pre-Nursing students who have not completed all required coursework (not including Anatomy & Physiology I and II with Labs) at the time the BSN Supplemental Application in NursingCAS is submitted MUST provide a written plan for completion of the prerequisite course(s). This is part of the BSN Supplemental Application in NursingCAS form.
- A final transcript showing all coursework must be submitted to FGCU Admissions Office. Transcripts must also be entered into BSN Supplemental Application in NursingCAS.
  - Accelerated BSN pathway applicants must have an earned bachelor's degree or they must be in the process of completing their Bachelor's degree at the time of application. Conditional admission is offered to qualified applicants pursuant to the successful completion of the Bachelor's degree. Official transcripts must be provided prior to the semester start date.
- The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a required BSN Program entrance exam. The original (first-attempt) TEAS exam results must be submitted as part of the application. Pre-Nursing students should complete the TEAS in advance of the BSN admission deadline. Students are encouraged to prepare for the ATI TEAS entrance examination utilizing all available ATI resources.
- Applicants must take the TEAS at any approved testing site by registering at ATI if testing at a location other than FGCU.
- Official TEAS scores [ADN, PN, BSN,LPN] must be sent to the FGCU Testing and Assessment Center by selecting FL Gulf Coast U TEAS when ordering official scores.
- As part of the BSN Supplemental Application in NursingCAS, applicants must upload a PDF of your TEAS "Individual Performance Profile" (graph format), which shows Total, Readings, Math, Science, and English Language Usage with scores calculated for BSN Program. These five (5) scores must be entered into NursingCAS.

Deadlines
- Fall Admission: December 15 - February 1
- Spring Admission: April 25 - May 31
- Summer Admission (ABSN Pathway only): September 1 - October 14
- The next admission opportunity for traditional pathway students will be for the Spring 2026.
- The next admission opportunity for accelerated pathway students will be for the Summer of 2026.
Admission Decisions
- Admission decisions for the BSN Program are typically communicated via Eagle Email approximately 12 weeks following the application deadline. Applicants will receive official notification of their admission status via their FGCU Eagle Email account. It is the responsibility of each applicant to regularly monitor their Eagle Email, as notifications may be sent prior to the 12-week timeframe. Failure to respond to an offer of admission within the specified period may result in the revocation of the offer. The BSN Program does not consider requests for extensions to the deadline for notifying the program of your acceptance. Applicants are advised not to contact the School of Nursing for admission status updates, as such information cannot be provided over the phone.
- Students who are not accepted into the program must re-apply as applications are not moved on to the next admission cycle.
