This committee is responsible for the Finest of the Flock awards, Professional Development awards and selecting the Outstanding Staff awards.

This committee reviews new policies and advises SAC on concerns and interests related to personnel policies.

This committee reviews and approves PDP applications throughout the year.

This committee develops and coordinates events across campus which assist in enhancing staff familiarity with the Staff Advisory Council.

Recognize a Colleague Through Staff Shout-Outs

Dear Faculty and Staff,

At FGCU, our values of Commitment, Collaboration and Curiosity are lived out daily by our staff. To celebrate these contributions, the Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is excited to announce the creation of the new Staff Shout-Out initiative.

Staff Shout-Outs are a new, quick way to recognize a staff member that made your day and exemplified our core values in a special way. You can submit your first Staff Shout-Out today! The initiative was developed as part of SAC’s September workshop-based themed meeting focusing on staff recognition. The form and its corresponding shout-out will live on the SAC website and SAC’s LinkedIn page.

This initiative, alongside SAC’s Finest of the Flock awards, are great ways to show appreciation to our colleagues who exemplify FGCU values in their everyday work and help portray a broader picture of how staff strengthen our community and bring our values to life.

Please take a quick moment to recognize someone who has made a difference. Your appreciation helps build a stronger culture of recognition at FGCU.

SAC 2025-26: New Leadership, Initiatives and Engagement Opportunities 

Dear FGCU Staff,

The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is excited to continue supporting our amazing community this next academic year, and we are thrilled to share some exciting updates for this year.

First and foremost, we would like to introduce our new SAC officers. We’re excited to have a dynamic group of individuals leading the charge, and we look forward to working alongside all of you to continue making FGCU a great place to work and grow.

In alignment with Goal 4 of FGCU’s strategic plan, which is dedicated to enhancing the employee experience and fostering a supportive work environment, SAC is introducing a series of themed meetings this year. These gatherings aim to cultivate a culture of collaboration, professional development and well-being among staff. Each theme is thoughtfully designed to engage our community, build meaningful connections and provide valuable resources that support our collective growth and success.

SAC encourages all staff to attend these meetings and participate in the conversations that will shape the future of our university and the employee experience. We are committed to creating a supportive and engaging environment where every staff member can thrive, and your involvement is essential to that success.

SAC Nominations Due April 9, Annual Assembly is April 15 

Dear FGCU Staff,

The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is now accepting nominations for new representatives for the upcoming 2025-27 term (June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2027). The deadline to submit nominations is 5 p.m. April 9.

Please consider nominating yourself or a fellow staff member who would be an excellent advocate for FGCU staff. Shared governance is a cornerstone of our university, and SAC plays a vital role in that mission. We encourage nominations from all divisions across campus.

Click here to submit a nomination or for information on eligibility. Once nominated, candidates will receive an email to accept or decline the nomination. If accepted, nominees will be asked to submit a short bio and photo.

What’s next? After nominations have closed, SAC invites all FGCU staff to attend the annual assembly meeting to participate in the nomination process for 2025-27 SAC representatives.

At the assembly, you will have the opportunity to:

• Meet current representatives and prospective SAC candidates
• Learn more about SAC’s 2024-25 accomplishments and initiatives

• Hear candidate introductions (in-person or via video)

Immediately following the assembly, online voting for new representatives will open. Online voting will remain open for 10 business days after the assembly at www.fgcu.edu/sac.

Celebrate Outstanding Staff – Submit Nominations By March 28

Dear FGCU Faculty and Staff,

Help us recognize FGCU’s dedicated staff by submitting a nomination for the Outstanding Staff Award! This prestigious award honors staff who go above and beyond in their service to the university and community, and all FGCU employees – our faculty and staff – can nominate.

Winners will be recognized at the Celebration of Excellence on April 23.

Award categories are:

• Administrative & Professional (A&P) Staff
• Support Personnel (SP) Staff
• Other Professional Services (OPS) Staff
• Gabor Staff Champion (Assistant director level and above)

The deadline to submit a nomination has been extended to Friday, March 28. We look forward to recognizing and celebrating the incredible contributions of our FGCU staff!

The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is committed to advocating for and supporting FGCU staff, and we invite all FGCU employees - our faculty and staff - to connect with us in meaningful ways. Here’s a summary of how faculty and staff can get involved with SAC this spring:

• Mark your calendars for Soar into Spring, happening March 3-7 during students’ spring break. This is a week of personal and professional development events designed for FGCU staff and faculty. Click here to view the schedule and register for a session.
• All FGCU employees can nominate an administrative and professional (A&P) or support personnel (SP) colleague for Finest of the Flock, which recognizes staff members who go above and beyond.
• Employees can also celebrate outstanding staff by submitting a nomination for the Outstanding Staff Award, which will be presented at the Celebration of Excellence event on April 23.
• Interested in becoming a SAC representative or know a staff member who would be a great fit for SAC? Email sac@fgcu.edu to self-nominate or recommend an A&P or SP employee to be a SAC representative.
• Staff: Save the date for the SAC Annual Assembly, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on April 15 in the Cohen Student Union Ballroom. This is an opportunity to hear important updates, connect with colleagues and participate in the election kickoff for SAC.
