SURI is spearheaded by SISR and the Whitaker Center for STEM Education. It is held
in December in the breezeway between the buildings in the academic corridor.
Research @ Eagle X is held in April, and is an annual showcase of outstanding research,
service-learning, internships, and leadership projects completed by students throughout
the academic year. This event showcases the broad impact of FGCU across a broad range

The Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) is one of the nation’s largest
multi-disciplinary research conferences and is open to undergraduate students in the
state of Florida. Every year, the conference is hosted by a different university in
the state. In addition to an opportunity to presenting research in a poster format,
students can network with exhibitors from graduate programs from across the country.
Registration and travel costs of presenting students are coordinated by SISR.
Working with their research mentor, students can apply to present at relevant conferences
in their fields. Click here to apply for support through Student Research Funds - Travel (graduate or undergraduate).
If multiple students from the same program/department are presenting at the conference
as first authors, do not submit an SRF application but contact SISR directly.
Service Learning & Civic Engagement help students engage in volunteer experiences related to the social issues with which they feel most passionate; then,
based on their volunteer experiences, provide guidance and opportunities to dive deep
and learn much more about the context and root causes of the issues they care about. They also
encourage and offer support for students to create solutions at the root-level for the issues they care about.
Digital Badges at FGCU are micro-credentials that enhance your resume by verifying to employers

Internshipsare stepping stones to career success, where you can set objectives related to your
goals and work under the supervision of an experienced professional to achieve them.

The Communication Lab is a campus speech and presentation development center focused
on new techniques and educational practices that assist students become stronger and
