If your cell phone carrier reception does not provide adequate service for incoming/outgoing phone calls, please consider utilizing WiFi calling.

It is important to distinguish between cellular reception/data service and WiFi service. One way to diagnose the service issue:

• Turn off the WiFi on your mobile phone - If you are NOT able to load a website in a browser, receive an incoming call/make an outgoing call, or utilize mobile apps, this likely indicates a cellular reception issue.
• Put your mobile phone in airplane mode - Ensure that you are connected to a FGCU WiFi network - If you are NOT able to load a website in a browser, receive an incoming WiFi call/make an outgoing WiFi call, or utilize mobile apps , this likely indicates a WiFi connectivity/service issue.

WiFi Calling Considerations:

• Call Drops When Exiting Buildings - If you're on a call and step outside of one building to enter another, the call may drop if WiFi signal is lost. Please complete your call before exiting the building.
• Device in SOS Mode - When a device enters SOS mode, it assumes no connectivity and attempts to use the cellular network—even if it's unavailable. Switching the device to Airplane Mode resolves this by forcing it to use Wi-Fi for calls.
• Initial Wi-Fi Connection Delay - Upon entering a building, there may be a delay in connecting to Wi-Fi. If it's your first time at the location, you may need to manually connect to an appropriate WiFi network.
