I was born and raised in New Jersey, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental
and Business Economics from Cook College at Rutgers University. I made the move to
Florida in 2006, and earned a Masters in Education with a focus on College Student
Affairs from the University of South Florida. I completed my MBA at FGCU in 2012,
and am currently working on my Doctorate in Education at FGCU – I hope to be a double
Eagle soon! My entire professional career has been at FGCU, and I started my journey
in the First Year Advising Office, and was also an academic advisor in the College
of Arts and Sciences. I was given the opportunity to start the Undergraduate Studies
Advising Office for special populations in August 2013, and became Director of Exploratory
Advising in July 2018. One of my favorite ways that I get engaged on campus is reading
names at Commencement (FGCU’s graduation ceremony). I love seeing students who we
helped as first-year students cross the stage at graduation! When I am not on campus
I love spending time with my family – my partner, Adam, my brother, Johnny, and our
three dogs and three fish tanks! We love going to sporting events and exploring Florida.
I am from California and New Mexico, so needless to say, I love Mexican food! I attended
New Mexico State University where I earned my BA in Foreign Languages and Latin American
Studies and my MA in Communication Studies and Government. I have worked at universities
in New Mexico, Colorado and California. I am a proud Latina, and I was a first-generation,
low-income college student. Earning a college degree changed my life, and I’m passionate
about supporting students as they work toward their educational goals. Some of my
favorite college experiences include studying abroad in Spain and Guatemala, performing
in the marching band as a member of the color guard, and working as a math tutor on
campus. I’m excited to see where your college experiences take you! My hobbies include
exploring nature, cooking, reading, and being active. My husband and I have two kids:
a teenager and a pre-teen. We’re looking forward to making Florida our home!
Hello! I am originally from the Midwest (Chicago, IL and Kansas City, MO), but I prefer
this Florida weather! I earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University
of Central Missouri, and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Services
& Administration from the University of Central Arkansas. I absolutely love being
an Academic Advisor! I cannot think of a more fulfilling career, as every day I have
the opportunity to play a role in students’ success! I am the youngest of six and
I have eleven (and counting) nieces and nephews. I enjoy running, staying active,
and watching Chicago sports. I spend most of my free time with my wife and our two
dogs. The number one item on my bucket list is to visit every active MLB ballpark.
I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale Florida, and moved to Southwest Florida to
attend FGCU for my Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and my Master of Arts in Educational
Leadership concentrating in Higher Education. I began my professional career in the
Eagle View Orientation office, and am so excited to have transitioned into my new
role here as an Academic Advisor in Exploratory Advising. My favorite thing about
FGCU is the close campus community that we have here and our focus on student success.
I currently serve on the FGCU Alumni Association Board of Directors. While I am not
working, I am spending time with my husband Christian, our mini labradoodle Bella,
and our terrier mix, Zoey.
I graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2015 with a Bachelors of Elective Studies
Degree. I then went on to get my M.S in College Counseling and Student Development
also from St. Cloud State University, graduating in 2017. In November 2017, I moved
from Southwest Minnesota down to Southwest Florida. I traded in my snow boots for
boat shoes. :) I enjoy being outside either at the beach or back up north snowmobiling,
reading, spending time with my family and traveling! I have been to nine different
countries outside of the United States. My advice to students is to meet and get to
know your advisors and professors! They are not as scary as they seem!
I grew up and attended school just north of Indianapolis, Indiana, and received my
undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education, Higher Education/Adult/Community
Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. My professional experiences
are within student success and advising, students with disabilities, career development,
and instruction. I have always enjoyed working one-on-one with students, and working
at FGCU is no exception. I have the privilege of working with an incredibly supportive
and friendly staff. My goal is to make each student feel welcome and comfortable to
help foster personal and academic growth, as well as optimizing their college experience.
Outside of work, some of my hobbies include reading various novels (Debbie Macomber
is my favorite!), crafting with seashells, exploring new beaches, and spoiling my
niece and nephew!
I grew up in Binghamton, New York. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Economics from the State University of New York College at Oneonta and a Master of
Science degree in Student Affairs Administration from Binghamton University. My favorite
things about FGCU are how friendly and welcoming the entire FGCU Community is as well
as how focused we are in regards to sustainability and environmental preservation.
I have a Labrador/Golden Retriever named Duncan who enjoys the Florida weather just
as much as I do, however he may miss the snow more than I.
My name is Bill O’Dell and I am from the Central Valley of California where I was
a California Highway Patrolman for 27 years, I received my Bachelors in Criminal Justice
Management, and went on to earn a Master Degree in Public Administration from Calif.
State University Dominguez Hills. I moved to Florida in 2015 and worked as a Coordinator
for the Criminal Justice Program at the Florida Keys Community College on the islands
of Marathon and Key West. I began my career here at FGCU in 2016 as an Adjunct Professor,
and discovered my passion for working with the wonderful students here at FGCU. I
also founded the Kindness Project, involving FGCU students in service learning to
help the homeless of Lee County. Being an academic advisor, and contributing to the
success of students is the most rewarding endeavor I have ever been part of. GO EAGLES!!!
Greetings, my name is Tricia Miller. I am originally from Central Wisconsin and earned my bachelor’s degree at the University
of Wisconsin Oshkosh in Human Services and my masters in Counseling/Higher Education
from Lakeland University. My husband and I relocated to Southwest Florida and we
love it! We enjoy travel, exploring, and road trips! I have 13+ years of experience
in academic advising and have enjoyed every minute! Being an academic advisor is a
very rewarding career, it is amazing to watch each student grow personally, professionally
and academically. FGCU is a very special college; the students, staff and faculty
are always working together to put FGCU on the map! The college has grown so much
and will continue to grow due to the hard work of our students, staff and faculty! I
look forward to working with you, to ensure your success here at FGCU! Go Eagles!
I am originally from Royersford, PA just outside of Philadelphia. I received my Bachelor’s
Degree from Rowan University and Master’s Degree in Higher Education Counseling and
Student Affairs from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. My favorite things
about FGCU are the students, the size of the campus, the eco-friendly attitude, and
the weather. I am married with two children and a dog, and I like to play golf in
my spare time.
Hi there! I have called Southwest Florida home for most of my life, but I am most
recently from Greensboro, North Carolina, where I completed my Master of Education
degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
While at UNCG I advised students in the Bryan School of Business, taught first-year
students in one of UNCG’s first-year transition courses, and also worked with students
on Academic Recovery. Prior to my time in North Carolina, I earned my Bachelor of
Science degree in Education from Florida SouthWestern, where I worked as an Orientation
Leader and Peer Mentor, which sparked my love of working in the field of Higher Education.
After completing my Bachelor’s, I worked here at FGCU as a Program Assistant with
the FGCU Honors College for two years. As an Academic Advisor, I am here to help navigate
any of the academic questions and challenges (and successes!) you might face in college,
and my goal is to help make your transition to college a great one. I look forward
to getting to know you more!
I was born and raised in Hays, Kansas where I attended Fort Hays State University
and earned degrees in Health and Human Performance and Secondary Education. I also
competed as a collegiate golfer while at FHSU. My involvement in Greek life, collegiate
athletics, and other student life activities led me to pursue a Master’s degree in
College Student Development at Oklahoma State University. Since then, I have served
as a primary role academic advisor, advising students at UNLV, K-State, and now as
an exploratory advisor at FGCU. My favorite things about FGCU are the beautiful campus,
small size, and friendly people. In my spare time, I enjoy being active, reading,
watching/attending sporting events, and taking walks with my husband, Reid and our
shih tzu/poodle mix, Gundy.
I was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, NY and graduated from Binghamton University
in 2015, with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and minors in education and
global studies. I moved to Florida in 2016 and received my Master’s in College Student
Affairs from Nova Southeastern University. I am passionate about education and am
excited to continue to help students reach their full potential. I have been coming
to South Florida on vacations with my family since I was a child. My favorite part
about South Florida is the warm climate and beaches. You can find me paddle boarding,
shopping, or trying out a new workout class!
I am a born and raised Florida native and a double Eagle! In 2015, I graduated from
Florida Gulf Coast University with my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and in 2020,
graduated again with my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. My favorite thing
about FGCU is our small class sizes, our beautiful campus, and our many wonderful
events throughout the year – especially Winter Wonderland and the Tunnel of Awareness.
Outside of FGCU, I am an avid animal lover and spend quite a lot of time working
with rescues and volunteer organizations to help control feral cat populations through
TNVR as well as adopting them into my house where I currently have 13 cats! I also
enjoy watching movies with friends, trying new vegetarian recipes, and playing games
with my partner.
I was born and raised in small town in Illinois that was right on the border of Wisconsin.
I moved down to Fort Myers in 2015, and I can definitely say I enjoy the Florida weather
way more than the Illinois weather! I earned a Bachelors in Psychology from Florida
Gulf Coast University. My favorite things about FGCU is the size of the campus, and
the many resources it has to offer!
