Getting Started With Academic Advising at FGCU
Welcome to FGCU! Academic advising is built into your orientation process to help you start strong. New undergraduate students are supported in connecting with the right advising team so they can plan courses, understand degree expectations, and feel confident moving into their first semester.
Both first-year students and transfer students will meet with an academic advisor before registering for their first semester courses. Advising appointments are scheduled after you've completed several required pre-orientation steps.
Before You Schedule an Advising Appointment
To be eligible for advising outreach, new students must complete the following tasks:
- Activate and begin to continually check your Eagle Email
- Register to attend Eagle View Orientation
- Submit your immunization records
- Complete the pre-orientation virtual modules
What Happens Next
Once these steps are completed, academic advisors will begin reaching out via Eagle Email to invite students to schedule an advising appointment. Whenever possible, you should schedule your advising appointment before attending your in-person orientation experience. When scheduling, be sure to:
- Use the advising appointment link included in your email, and
- Select the appointment option that mentions Orientation or New Student Advising
Advising Outreach Timeline
We know you are excited to start your FGCU journey — and we're excited to support you. If you have completed the steps above and have not yet heard from advising, don't worry. Outreach occurs on a rolling basis using the timeline below:
- Summer Admits: Outreach begins in mid-April
- Fall Admits: Outreach begins in mid-April
- Spring Admits: Outreach begins in mid-November
Please continue checking your Eagle Email regularly for advising communication. If you are having trouble accessing your Eagle Email account, please contact the University Help Desk.
How do I register to attend Eagle View Orientation?
Once you have accepted admission and paid your Enrollment Deposit, you will see a clickable button on your Future Eagle Account Portal home screen that says "Register Now For Orientation!"
What if I am a high school student looking to take college classes?
FGCU's Accelerated Collegiate Experience (ACE) program provides qualified high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit through dual enrollment. Students accepted into the ACE program will receive separate communication regarding academic advising and course registration.
