High School Students Compete in ASCE Bridge Competition

FGCU's ASCE hosted a bridge design competition for local high school students. The winners of the SWFL competition are moving on to compete in the Florida Competition. The finalists will be competing using ASCE's Bridge Florida in Orlando this July. Contestants with a working structure with the lowest cost will be crowned the winner.
Lanka Navaratna won the senior division of the competition with a bridge cost of $201,150 within the bridge building software. The senior division was a tight race, with other bridge costs totaling $209,000; $211,000; and $217,000.
Genesis Bonhomme won the junior division of the competition with a total cost of $340,900.
